Child Safety Services is responsible for protecting infants, children and young people from abuse and neglect.

The Centre works with government & non-government agencies to protect & support vulnerable children and young people by responding to families in crises twenty-four hours a day, seven days a week. Where possible, families are kept together and counselling & support services are provided to assist families with capacity building. In situations where children and young people need to be removed from their parents for their own safety, attempts are made to keep the families together by placing children with extended family members.

The service includes support & counselling for children and their families during times of separation; assistance for families & individuals to cope with relationship problems and family crises; help for parents & their adolescents in dealing with difficulties; and support & training for foster carers.
