In Queensland we deliver our 13 11 14 Lifeline Crisis Support Line, available 24/7, through 10 Lifeline centres – providing confidential suicide prevention services with a non-judgmental and compassionate listening ear. We also offer text messages, and online chat services 24/7.
We also provide a range of other services in the community, such as Lifeline Community Recovery, with teams ready and able to provide face-to-face support following a natural disaster. And since young people often turn to their peers first in difficult times, we provide Peer Skills training on the skills, knowledge and strategies needed to give effective support in times of need. At a corporate level, our Lifeline Corporate Training services help organisations create mentally healthy workplaces.
Our network of more than 120 Lifeline shops (excluding Darling Downs and South West Queensland) sell new, donated and pre-loved goods to help fund our crisis support services. We also export to overseas communities, sell rags to industry and run our Lifeline Bookfest and other retail and fundraising events to further support our services and help save lives.
We couldn’t run our Lifeline crisis support services, shops and events without the help of our 6,000 incredible volunteers. From Bookfest sorters to Crisis Supporters, each person plays a vital role in ensuring that we are able to bring help and hope to people across the state. Our role is to encourage people to talk to someone in times of crisis and reduce the stigma around suicide. As part of UnitingCare, we’re committed to helping people across Queensland live life in all its fullness.
