English & Literacy Mentoring Class:
The Class assists culturally & linguistically diverse (CALD) members of the community including newly arrived migrants who need assistance to enhance their English literacy and communication skills.
A literacy program is also available under the Adult Community Education program for members of the community requiring this type of support.
Implementation of this program depends on the availability of volunteer tutors.
Migrant Development Program:
Provides information, support and referral services to culturally & linguistically diverse (CALD) members of the community including newly arrived migrants.
Services include the following:
Referral to education, training & employment opportunities;
Access to health & welfare services;
Freedom from violence & harm by assisting with access to legal & other support services;
Advocacy on matters pertaining to migrant issues;
Promotion of cultural awareness & diversity;
Support in the provision of a social network to support migrants in isolation;
English language mentoring, personal development & life skills; and
A venue for established migrants to support other migrants in need.
