Queensland Indigenous Family Violence Legal Service:
Provides a free legal service for Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander people affected by family or domestic violence and/or sexual assault.
Services include the following:
Explaining legal rights and responsibilities;
Information about various options & steps to solve legal problems;
Court support;
Referral to free counselling and support services including health, housing and financial advice.
Information sessions, fact sheets and resources on various areas of law including child protection, domestic and family violence, family law, victims assistance, witness assistance and sexual assault victim support; and
Community education.
Queensland Indigenous Family Violence Prevention Legal Unit is endorsed for DGR status.
