The Child Development Service is to provide a trans-disciplinary early intervention developmental service for children experiencing complex multi-dimensional developmental conditions. The service focuses on children under eight years of age who have challenges in multiple areas of development. The service focuses on empowering families with a shared diagnostic understanding of their child’s developmental and medical presentation and how they can best support their child across the life course. Referrals are accepted from General Practitioners, Child Health Nurses and Pediatricians. Enquiries accepted from parents and a referral form can be provided to support a GP referral.
Queensland Health provide other pediatrics allied health services (e.g. dietetics, occupational therapy, physiotherapy, podiatry, speech pathology) for young people up to 18 years of age relating to medical conditions that are likely to result in deterioration of health status or hospitalization if not treated. Referral processes and eligibility criteria differ across allied health departments.
