A not-for-profit state-wide body representing the interests of people from culturally & linguistically diverse (CALD) backgrounds who are part of the broader social community of Queensland by promoting multiculturalism.

ECCQ contributes to national policy and debate on all matters concerning ethnic communities and multiculturalism through its affiliation with the Federation of Ethnic Communities' Councils of Australia (FECCA).

The Council lobbies and provides advocacy on policy issues affecting ethnic communities and represents the views of ethnic groups to all levels of government.

The Council also supports social and economic participation for all Queenslanders through strengthening community associations, delivering leadership training, creating employment pathways and raising awareness of the benefits of cultural diversity.

ECCQ provides state-wide programs on sexual health & chronic disease with a particular focus on culturally & linguistically diverse communities and offers cross-cultural training, support & mentoring for ethnic community associations.
