The Granite Belt Neighbourhood (GBNC) is a trading name of Community Development Services (CDS) Inc.
GBNC programs focus on improving individual, family and community wellbeing within the Granite Belt region of the Southern Downs Regional Council area. Programs are funded by a range of Federal and State government departments and through donations.
Kids Korner – Children from 15 months to 5 years are safe, have fun and are encouraged to develop their social, emotional, intellectual and physical selves, funded by the Qld Dept of Education.
Early Years – Activities and care for families and their children (prenatal to 8yrs) in an integrated way including parenting support, and partnerships with other agencies, funded by Qld Dept of Education.
Family Support – To empower and equip parents to be the best they can be while raising amazing, well-adjusted young people via a range of parenting-focused programs, funded by Qld Dept of Child Safety, Seniors and Disability Services
Youth Support Service – Individual support for children and young people aged 12—21 years at risk of disconnecting from community. Program initiatives focus on engaging youth, funded by Qld Dept of Child Safety, Seniors and Disability Services.
Community Support Service – Provides information, advice, referral and connects people to services and the community in response to their needs. Funded by Dept of Communities, Housing and Digital Economy.
Mental health & Wellbeing – Focused on workshops to improve mental health and wellbeing for parents and school students transitioning to high school in the Stanthorpe region, funded by West Moreton and Darling Downs Primary Health Network.
Foodsupport – Operates weekly and provides donated food items to any person who has been booked in to access this program by Emergency Relief program staff.
Emergency Relief – Assists on a time-limited basis with basic life needs and is available to any person resident in the area including back packers e.g. food, sustaining tenancies and other forms of relief, funded by Federal Dept Social Services.
Driving work/life opportunities – This program is funded until 30th April 2024 and aims to expand employment and life options by working on 3 key barriers that block persons aged 16 to 25yrs from obtaining a driver’s licence. This program works with the PCYC’s Braking the Cycle driving program.
Healthy Ageing Support Program – This is a 1-year demonstration program funded until 30th June 2024 aimed at supporting senior Southern Downs residents to live at home for as long as possible through activities and models of care that support healthy ageing. For persons aged 65 and over, or if ATSI persons 45 years and over.
