A Family Relationship Centre can help you by providing information about family relationships at all stages – forming new relationships, overcoming relationship difficulties or dealing with separation.
If you are going through separation, staff will talk with you to help you focus on your children’s needs and help you decide what to do next.
Family Relationship Centres specialize in providing joint Family Dispute Resolution mediation sessions with the other parent or family members to help you agree on parenting arrangements.
Centre staff can also refer you to other specialist services that can help, such as family law counselling or programs about parenting after separation.
Centres also offer a range of other services and programs such as information sessions and seminars.
Family Relationship Advice Line:
A national telephone advice service providing assistance for anyone affected by relationship, divorce or separation issues including parents, step-parents, grandparents, children, young people and friends.
Advice and referral are also provided for people experiencing domestic violence in their relationships.
Referral to services which can provide free information and simple advice about family law is available.
Gambling Help:
Provides counselling services for people with gambling addictions and for partners or close family members of someone with a gambling problem.
Family Relationship Centre (FRC):
The Centre supports families at all stages of their relationships, whether it is beginning new relationships, strengthening relationships or when separating.
Certificates can be provided for courts to confirm that an attempt at family dispute resolution was made.
Face-to-face, telephone and online appointments are available.
Family Mediation:
Provides family mediation to assist in the resolution of conflicts.
Matters include those falling under family law including property division and parenting arrangements.
Mediation is available to resolve conflict situations between children, adolescents and their parents.
