SANDBAG has been providing counselling, support and community advocacy for many years around the area of Domestic and Family Violence.
We believe all women and children should be able to feel safe and fully participate in community without fear of violence.
We offer individual counselling and support for women and children; therapeutic groups for women and a range of community activities aimed at raising awareness and creating change.
Provides community support for individuals and families who are marginalized and vulnerable.
The Sandgate Community Centre provides material aid in the form of free laundry and shower facilities for people who are experiencing homelessness as well as public access computers and community support.
Tea, coffee and food parcels are also available on a daily basis.
Weekly community meals are available and grocery donations on held Wednesdays.
Crisis and personal support is also provided for individuals with problems relating to housing, family violence, homelessness, mental health and health.
The service is available for all people who meet the eligibility criteria including veterans, people with disabilities, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people, those escaping domestic violence, people from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds and people on parole and/or who have been recently released from prison.
Volunteer opportunities are available.
